About Us

The shop was opened on 11th December 2004 to provide a base for the Scrapbooking Hobby under the name Scrapbox. For the first six months or so, the back room of the shop was used as a base for the development of the internet web site system. On completion of that project we decided that we would like to expand the shop focus. We wanted to keep it craft based but make the room more of interest to the male of the species to add a balance to the 'female' focus of the craft shop.

On 1st August 2006 the inevitable happened and the Scrapbooking shop was closed. On that day SBX Model Shop took over the whole shop with an expanded range - which now includes White Metal Figures and Valejo Paints.

Scrapbox is owned by David & Valerie Pennington along with their daughter Wendy McKee. Wendy is the Scrapbooker, Valerie is actually a knitter, whilst David marks his interest in plastic model aircraft to a Frog Sea Hawk bought by his mother on a rainy day in 1959 (ish).

In November 2005, the shop was expanded to include a full range of Military model kits resulting in over 2,000 kits being in stock at any one time. We also expanded our range to include Alclad, Xtracrylix Military Colours, and our own range of bases.

David is a member of the IPMS UK (International Plastic Modellers Society) and of the Ipswich Branch of the IPMS.
